Ironworker Field Coordinator
ACME Constructors Inc.
St. Louis, MO 63119
Building the strongest ironworker workforce in the area.
This role is for an experienced Ironworkers Union member who wants to lead beyond one crew or job site. As Ironworker Field Coordinator, you help ACME put the right people on the right work, build stronger crews, and keep projects moving.
This is a role for a respected field leader who knows the people, knows the work, understands the hall, and can make tough calls without losing sight of the crew.
You would connect the field, project management, Safety, HR, and the union hall so manpower decisions are clear, timely, and grounded in jobsite needs.
What You'll Do
The Ironworker Field Coordinator's primary responsibility is to recruit and to develop our ironworkers into the best workforce in the area.
In this role, you will:
-
Coordinate manpower assignments across active and upcoming projects.
-
Work with project managers, superintendents, and foremen to understand workforce needs.
-
Identify and develop future foremen, general foremen, and specialty-skilled ironworkers.
-
Support employee training, certification, and workforce readiness efforts.
-
Maintain manpower forecasts and anticipate staffing needs before they affect projects.
-
Coordinate workforce requests with union representatives and maintain positive working relationships with the hall.
-
Onboard and place new ironworkers.
-
Support safe, productive, and professional field operations across all projects.

Grow and develop the strongest ironworker workforce in the region.
-
Ensure manpower needs are filled accurately and efficiently.
-
Build strong relationships with field leadership, project teams, and union representatives.
-
Improve employee readiness through training, certifications, and developmental opportunities.
-
Assist project managers, superintendents, and foremen with project-specific tooling and equipment lists and shop drawing reviews to support planning, field readiness, and execution as needed.
Preferred Background

-
Ironworker Foremen
-
General Foremen
-
Superintendents
-
Other ironworker leadership roles
Qualified candidates should have a strong understanding of structural steel, rebar, miscellaneous metals, welding, rigging, workforce planning, crew development, and union operations.
Location & Travel
This position will support ACME Constructors’ projects across our service area. Regular travel to job sites, coordination with field leaders, and in-person interaction with project teams and union representatives should be expected. The role will require flexibility based on project schedules, manpower needs, and field priorities.
Why apply for this role?
This role gives you a bigger seat at the table without losing touch with the field. You place people where they fit best, spot training needs, identify who is ready for the next step, and build tougher, better-prepared crews.
Is This a Match for You?
This may be a strong fit if you are respected in the field, understand how good crews are built, and take ownership when the answer is not easy. The role requires sound judgment, steady communication, follow-through, and grit when plans change.
