The Field Safety Coordinator plays a critical role in ensuring the well-being of our employees and the success of our projects. The Field Safety Coordinator will be responsible for implementing, managing, and continuously improving safety programs and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all employees and contractors in the field. This role involves conducting regular site inspections, identifying potential hazards, and developing strategies to mitigate risks. The Field Safety Coordinator will collaborate with management and field staff to promote a culture of safety and compliance throughout the organization.

YOUR ROLE AS FIELD SAFETY COORDINATOR

 

  • Directly oversee project safety

  • Ensure safety policies are implemented on a company wide basis

  • Be a champion of developing, fostering and expanding the safety culture

  • Coordinating with client safety directors, managers, and field superintendents while developing client relationships

  • Assist maintaining and updating safety policies and information in client prequalification systems

  • Continue to develop and expand the safety program as opportunities for improvement present themselves.

  • Schedule and balance time with minimal daily direction

 

Preventative Measures

  • Maintain and analyze logs of company safety statistics

  • Assist with and develop programs and systems that will ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, EPA, and other federal, state and local regulations

  • Meet with and coordinate goals, activities and schedules with the Safety Director, Operations, Branch Managers, and other staff

  • Evaluate and audit job hazards to eliminate injuries and loss producing behaviors and conditions.

  • Organize and lead safety-related conferences and meetings.

  • Provide safety and leadership training and "Best Practices" skills to employees.

  • Respond to location requests for help with safety concerns.

  • Participate in the organizational planning, administration and instruction of Foreman and Superintendent Development Program.

  • Investigate accidents and incidents to discover solutions to conditions that lead to their occurrence.

  • Work with the Claim Manager to Analyze claims, spot trends and recommend corrective action

 

Risk Management

  • Provide recommendations and assistance, with respect to job site hazards, employee training, new/safe equipment operation and safe material or substance utilization.

  • Ensure compliance with corporate worker’s compensation program including working with internal personnel, insurance broker/safety person, doctors and possibly legal counsel, to effectively investigate and resolve claims in an expeditious and cost-effective manner.

  • Perform and oversee investigation of accidents, injuries and unsafe working conditions to include interfacing with workers compensation claims and communication with injured workers and the return to work strategies. Provide recommendations for remedial action.

  • Prepare regularly scheduled and special reports to all levels of management

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Physical ability to move around various work sites, including outdoor environments, construction sites, and industrial facilities. This may involve walking, climbing stairs or ladders, and navigating uneven terrain.

  • Occasionally, the Field Safety Coordinator may need to lift and carry equipment or materials weighing up to 50 pounds. This could include safety gear, inspection tools, or other supplies needed for safety assessments and inspections.

  • May need to use hand tools or operate safety equipment as part of their duties. This requires good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to handle tools safely and effectively.

  • Must have good vision and hearing to identify potential hazards, observe safety practices, and communicate effectively with field personnel. This includes the ability to see and hear warning signals, alarms, and other auditory or visual cues indicating unsafe conditions.

 

IS THIS A MATCH FOR YOU?

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Construction or Safety Related)

  • 1 year or more construction experience, preferred

  • 2 years safety experience, preferred

  • Strong communication skills and focused attention to detail

  • Willingness to learn and expand knowledge base through use of technology

LOCATION & TRAVEL

 

This position is based at our headquarters in St. Louis, Missouri. Position will be required to be 80% time in the field, with travel 50-75%.
