DJ Simmons became chief executive officer of employee-owned ACME Constructors in 2013. Joining the company in 2004, he was promoted to lead its industrial division in 2006 and named president and chief operating officer in 2009. In those capacities, Simmons has applied his extensive knowledge of plant processes, management capabilities and communication skills to oversee hundreds of successful projects in four states, ranging from routine plant maintenance jobs to complex, multi-million-dollar, design-build plant construction and expansion assignments.
Under his leadership and despite divesting a $3 million operating division, ACME has grown revenues of $7.5 million in 2009 to $41 million in 2013. The number of salaried employees has nearly doubled to 25 while the staff’s sophistication has expanded to include a structural engineer and a CAD designer – demonstrating Simmons’ ongoing quest to continually enhance company processes and technology. Guided by common values, ACME Constructors embraces the "team" concept in all of its business dealings. It seeks close collaboration with clients, subcontractors and fellow contractors in working to deliver full-scope industrial contracting services of the highest caliber.
